Steelers Send Roman Wilson to IR Over Dislocated Finger

Adam Schefter reported the Steelers placed Roman Wilson on injured reserve, sidelining him for a minimum of four weeks.
Roman Wilson hitting injured reserve for a dislocated finger is the kind of cursed luck that makes you wonder if he accidentally walked under a ladder while holding a black cat. The officially shelved the wideout for at least four weeks on Saturday, turning a seemingly routine football injury into a mandatory month-long vacation.
Wilson suffered the left hand injury during the second quarter of 's 34-22 win over the in Week 5. He left the game, never came back, and now the front office has decided to just shut him down completely.
Before his finger decided to point the wrong direction, Wilson was actually putting together a highly respectable 2026 campaign. He had already hauled in 14 catches for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns. For a guy who spent his 2024 rookie season battling ankle and hamstring issues that kept him off the field for all but five total snaps, this was supposed to be the breakout year.
Instead, the former third-round pick out of Michigan is back to being a full-time resident of the training room. A four-week IR stint for a finger dislocation might sound a little dramatic to the old-school crowd, but trying to catch an NFL fastball with nine working digits is a fantastic way to end up with eight.
For anyone holding futures or looking at their team totals, this thins out an already top-heavy receiving corps right as they head south to face the in Week 6. The Steelers will have to scheme up a way to replace his production on the fly, while Wilson gets four weeks to figure out how to open Gatorade bottles with his right hand.
