Underdog NBA tweeted that Irving is questionable for Wednesday with injury management.

is officially back on an NBA injury report, which means nature is finally healing. According to Underdog NBA, the star is listed as questionable for Wednesday due to injury management.

Seeing that tag next to his name before we even get to Halloween is a tough pill for fans to swallow, but it is also entirely predictable.

Irving missed the entire 2025-26 season recovering from a torn ACL he suffered back in March of 2025. Dallas still handed him a three-year, $119 million contract while he was rehabbing, locking in their backcourt while essentially punting a year of contention to make sure he got right.

You do not pay a guy $40 million a year to rush him back for a random Wednesday game in October. Still, the mixed messaging out of Dallas leading up to this point has been objectively hilarious.

Over the summer, GM Nico Harrison claimed Irving was ahead of schedule in his recovery. Head coach Jason Kidd then used media day to publicly refute his own front office, stating Irving was absolutely not ahead of schedule. Turns out, the schedule is whatever Irving's surgically repaired knee says it is on any given morning.

Before the knee gave out, Irving was putting up 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per night. Dallas desperately needs that version of him back on the floor if they want to make a legitimate playoff run in a crowded .

For anyone looking at Wednesday's game lines or futures, this is your reminder that betting on Dallas means betting on Irving's daily availability. The math changes entirely when he is in street clothes.

Keep an eye on the shootaround updates Wednesday morning. If Irving sits, expect Luka Doncic's usage rate to hit levels usually reserved for a solo artist on a farewell tour.
