It usually points to an off-field misstep that the league simply could not ignore, but not one severe enough to trigger a massive public relations crisis. It is just enough time off to completely ruin a defensive coordinator's week.
For the Colts, losing Taylor-Britt means shuffling the deck in the defensive backfield. Cornerback depth is already a luxury in the modern NFL, and suddenly needing to bump a backup into a heavier rotation is exactly the kind of thing that makes opposing quarterbacks smile.
