"Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field," Rosenhaus said.

There is no standoff in professional sports that cannot be solved by the sudden, overwhelming realization that you are missing out on game checks. After spending months in NFL purgatory, Brandon Aiyuk has officially decided he would like to play football again.

According to his new agent Drew Rosenhaus, the wide receiver has filed the necessary paperwork for reinstatement. Aiyuk is scheduled to walk back into the ' training facility on Friday afternoon, ending a bizarre exile on the Reserve/Left Squad list.

Rosenhaus claims his client is fully healthy and ready to get back on the field. Hiring the most famous agent in the sport to immediately march you back into the building you swore you were done with is a classic business pivot. It is the NFL equivalent of storming out of a restaurant only to sneak back in through the kitchen because you forgot your leftovers.

The reality is Aiyuk needed a reset. He is coming off a brutal 2024 campaign where he tore his ACL and MCL, managing just 25 catches for 374 yards and zero touchdowns before his knee gave out. You cannot exactly force a blockbuster trade when your last tape is a year old and features a catastrophic joint injury.

general manager John Lynch previously made it clear the team was moving on with the guys in the locker room while Aiyuk sat in limbo. Now, the 49ers have to figure out how to integrate a disgruntled star back into a rotation that has already been operating without him.

Aiyuk’s return immediately shifts the offensive ceiling in the Bay Area, making a much more dangerous proposition in the futures market if he still has his old burst. The next step is seeing if he actually puts on a helmet this weekend, or if this reinstatement is just a procedural chess move to facilitate a deadline trade.
