Status alert: Alperen Sengun (back) headed to locker room Wednesday. (Underdog NBA)
The collective groan you just heard was every fantasy manager and live bettor watching Alperen Sengun walk down the tunnel.
The Houston Rockets star center headed to the locker room on Wednesday night with an apparent back injury, according to an update from Underdog NBA.
Houston was in the middle of absolutely dismantling the , holding a comical 70-38 lead. When your team is up by 32 points, the only thing that can actually hurt you is a random physical tweak or the arena's plumbing.
Sengun is the entire engine of this Rockets offense. Losing him turns a fun, ascending roster into a group of guys just running expensive cardio.
Live betting markets likely froze faster than a streaming app on hotel Wi-Fi the second he grabbed his back. Anyone holding second-half player props is currently staring at the ceiling and questioning their life choices.
The Rockets travel to face the next. Until Houston gives an official update, fans will be left wondering if this was just a precautionary rest during a blowout or a real problem that requires an MRI tube.
